Microneedling at Bella Vita Med Spa by Kathrine Eldridge, Wardrobe Stylist

Do you get a little scared when you hear the word microneedling? Well, don’t be. I recently got my first microneedling treatment done at Bella Vita Med Spa and couldn’t be happier with the results so far. I made a conscious choice to avoid getting Botox because once you are hooked you never stop from what I hear. This treatment has a longer-lasting positive impact on my skin. I’m getting close to 50 so I want to be serious about keeping it in the best shape possible.

What is Microneedling?

It’s sounds very complicated but it really isn’t. Here is Bella Vita Med Spa’s description of this treatment.

Microneedling harnesses your body’s own powerful healing properties to dramatically repair and rejuvenate. This advanced skincare treatment triggers cellular renewal, restores your complexion with fresh, vibrant skin.

  • Improves skin tone & texture
  • Reduces wrinkles and fine lines
  • Stimulates collagen production
  • Improves acne scarring & under eye bags

My Experience with Microneedling

Bella Vita Med Spa used the COSMOPen which vertically pierces the skin. They use a fresh needle for every treatment and made sure to show me that it was in the package before using it on my skin. Before using the pen, they applied a topical anesthetic to numb my skin and then I waited for about 15 minutes. (Waiting was a little nerve-racking this first time.)

Waiting for my face to get numb.

After my face was sufficiently numb, my aestethician Summer starting microneedling around my eyes and forehead first because the numbing wears off first in these areas. It felt the little pricks of the needle but it wasn’t over the top and I got used to the sensation pretty quickly. The entire treatment was done in about 20 minutes and my face looked extremely sunburnt and swollen when it was all over.

Summer applied hyaluronic acid on my skin right after to heal the skin and reduce irritation. She also gave me some to take home. I was instructed to not put any makeup on for 24 hours. After about two hours, I used a soothing sheet mask that they gave me to help with the redness and soon after my skin started feeling normal again.

All of these photos I took with no makeup on so you see the small changes.

The next day my skin had a small amount of redness which my makeup easily helped to conceal. Right away I could feel that my skin was smoother. 2 days after, I noticed that my skin was flaking off in certain areas, but my exfoliating cleanser helped with that.

What’s Next?

A week later, I noticed that there were less wrinkles around my eyes which made me extremely happy. Bella Vita Med Spa recommenced that I come in 6 weeks later for another treatment because with successive treatments, I could see even more positive changes in my skin. (I hoping for more improvement with my under eye bags.) I am booked for my next in late February!
